Nehru's 'love' for Edwina Mountbatten ruined Nation! - Exposed by Edwina's daughter

Lord Mountbatten "used" his wife Edwina, who shared a "deep emotional love" with Jawaharlal Nehru, to influence India's first Prime Minister to refer the Kashmir issue to the United Nations, according to the last Viceroy's daughter, Pamela.
"That is true and he did use her like that. But he certainly wasn't going to throw her, he didn't say to her go become the Prime Minister's lover because I need you to intercede. It was a by-product of this deep affection," Lady Pamela Hicks said in an interview to Karan Thapar in his programme 'Devil's Advocate' to be aired on CNN-IBN.
Hicks, who has recounted the relationship between Nehru and her mother in the book India Remembered: A Personal Account of the Mountbattens During the Transfer of Power , said it was possible that Edwina's influence played a role in Nehru's decision to refer Kashmir to the UN.

Love and affection for someone is not only natural but personal issue also. That his liking foe Edwina compromised Indian position is not seen. Kashmir at that time was one of the 500 plus states and he was successful to unite almost all but part of Kashmir. In times to come we will find that Kashmir dispute was useful for India because Pakistan is destroying itself in name of Kashmir and will soon make irself irrelevant or finished as a nation.

Yes this is trut. He wanted and show to the world that Secular India had a place for Muslim Kashmir also. That was why he did what he did. He wanted to prove the hollowness Jinnah's 2-nation theory which was based on religion. Kashmiri leader Sheikh Abdullah was aligned to him and both were against the Maharaja of Kashmir HH Harisingh ji. In fact the best course was to capture whole Kashmir and free it from the tribal invaders backed by the Pakistani Armed Forces. But Nehru committed the grave error of taking it before the UN on the advice of Lord Mountbatten who feared British Vs British entanglement in Kashmir as on both sides British troops were still there as the process of withdrawal was on ie incomplete when this crisis had erupted just after a month and half of Independence.

This is a perspective that I have not heard before and makes every sense... "I don't want British troops facing British troops... kick the can down the road... convince this brown Englishman that he will look like the perfect gentleman by referring the issue to the UN - possibly the first instance of third umpire rule!!! And this will keep it festering for decades while Her Majesty's troops can withdraw and watch the fun from a safe distance..." -- and the plan works to this day.
